Hello

 

A recent issue with this car,twice failed to start,winds over okay,started after 5,6 attempts and ran/drove normally. No eml on,only fault code was u1017 which cleared.

Only other symptom is fuel pump doesnt run when driver's door opened(to prime system),did before this fault appeared(and normal on VAG petrols ime)

Fuses all okay,two keys tried,remote locking etc fine.

Any idea/help where to look?  What controls the pump priming,a module or a relay?

It should prime if it did before. AFAIK most if not all TSIs do that priming routine.  I don't know about the control module, but I would start by measuring voltage at the fuel pump connections when you open door. If there is voltage, it is the fuel pump faulty. If no voltage, you back to checking wiring, relays etc...

I read somewhere on here about spurious electrical faults if the battery is quite old on these cars.

It was on its original battery so fitted a new,old one appeared reasonable tho was a bit low on capacity(sat at about 12.2v after overnight)

Whether it was that or all my checking relays etc but car seems back to normal now,pump primes when opening driver's door(as did before fault) and normal starting over weekend.
