The dreaded p2015

Featured Replies

Hi all

I’m not sure if this in the right place or indeed if it’s been covered elsewhere. But I figured I’d start somewhere with it.

1.6fsi petrol 2008 . 119k. After a bit of a blip at 73k involving a new injector on cylinder 4 it had been running well.

However recently it started running like a pig and dropping onto 3 cylinders with cylinder 4 playing up again . Fault codes were -

p2015

p0304

p0204

Plug replaced and coil replaced and it is running on 4 cylinders again.  However it repeatedly starts to run rough and the eml light is still kicking in with -

P2015

A friend ran it on their better diagnostic  machine and said it was showing as Swirl Flaps closed.

Do as it stands it’s still running strained and rough. If that’s makes any sense. So I was curious if that’s was a common thing with the 1.6fsi ?

Again sorry if this is covered elsewhere .

Had a bit more time tonight and looked at the other codes:

The P0304 looks likely to be a consequence of the P0204 or possibly the P2015. It might be worth checking the ground that supplies that part of the system, particularly if they have a common ground.

Hi there

Thanks very much for getting back about this. The fauly codes do tend to appear as a trio, although on occasion it is a single P2015 that rears its head, which might point to that being the cause.

This is probably a stupid question, but is there an easy way to locate the earth in question?  I was looking for wiring diagrams online and so forth, but no luck as of yet. As i say its possibly asking the obvious.

The only other solution I was toying with was the possibility of maybe opening the flaps and remapping them out of the system as such. But I know this is probably not recommended in the long run.

Thanks again for your help with this.

I don't know the part of the system well on your car so I don't know. My first course of action would be to follow the cable from the injector. I would imagine that the signal wires from all the injectors would go into a bundle and off to the ECU but the ground wire would go down to a bolt somewhere on the engine or body.

What are the colours of the wires going to the injectors? If they all have one that is the same colour, that's the one I would follow.

  • 2 weeks later...

P2015 has just appeared on my 2011 Octavia 2.0 VRS petrol engine which indicated intake manifold faulty and reading forums this is quite a common issue. The car has done 124k now but had an engine replacement by Skoda in April 2016 @ 76k due to the dreaded cam shaft position tensioner going into advanced and this was due to the rev 1 poorly designed chain tensioner. Basingstoke Skoda who replaced the engine told me I have a 5 year warranty on the new engine so I assume the intake manifold has only done 50k as it would have been a new one fitted? i fully understand the early revision intake manifold was again a poorly designed part which has now undergone a uplift to prevent mechanical failures and Volkswagen are replacing FOC up to 120k. So what should I do... should Skoda do the job FOC or would it be a pain?  or do I source a new revision one and get it fitted locally?  any help and advice would be well received, thank you.
