Skoda fabia Monte Carlo 17 inch wheel tyre sizes

Featured Replies

Hi we have just moved house and we have a skoda fabia Monte Carlo with the standard 17 inch alloy wheels. My question is at our new house to get to our parking you have to go up a small curb so with having the current tyres with a profile of 40 it's a bit rough going up the curb and I don't want to damage the wheels or suspension etc so what is the largest profile I can get away with without any rubbing etc? My friend has the same car and has 205 45 17 and their is no rubbing at all so is that the max I can go to or could I get away with 205 50 17 tyres? Cheers

205/50-17 is nearly 7% bigger overall......it will knock the speedo out....and change the gearing / driving of the car.....

It is not recommended to increase by more than 2.5%

Going up the kerb "SLOWLY" should be fine, one wheel at a time.............would look at lowering the kerb in the near future though..

Welcome to the forum.

205/45 R 17 or 215/40 R 17 are fine on the Monte Carlo.  The Size that some Ibiza, Polo and A1's got with the same Drivetrain.  The Speedo will be a little nearer accurate.

Not that they give that much more sidewall for mounting kerbs.

Thank you for the advice guys. It's my partners car and ice told her time and time again about going up the curb one wheel at a time and slowly she never takes it in though. As soon as 2 are on that's it she fly's the last 2 on or off depending wether she's coming up or down. If 50s are no good will have to try 45s and if still no good will have to lower the curb. Just wish she would drive it as I do up the curb and I doubt we would have an issue
