Turbo boost gauge

Featured Replies

Hi all

Last year i upgraded from my Fabia Monte Carlo to a 230 vRS.

While i was in the process of buying it i was looking at the 245 as it was a demonstrator, the one thing i liked was the boost gauge in the display which i was told would come on my 230.....it didnt...salesman just said, sorry i thought it did.

Anyway.....just wondered if it was hidden somewhere and i could get it activated. It was part of the whole lap timer configuration i think.

I know each upgrade in model needs a few extras and these were part of that on the 245.....would just like it on my 230.

Any thoughts?

Technically the Sport Menu can be done, I have it on my TDi, but it needs coding with FeC/SWaP via ODIS-E and it’s unlikely the dealer will know how. It’s a gimmick though and I never look at mine so you are honestly not missing out.

Thank you

If was just one of things when i was looking last year.

Talked myself out of the demo 245 and bought the shiny pre ordered and cancelled unused (heavily discounted) 230....so missed out on the few gimmicks.

But....hopefully they were all just cosmetics and gimmicks, apart from the extra 15hp and lsd.

I do love my 230 though.

(Im sure all 245 owners will disagree with me)

Like SASHA said the Lap Timer, G meter thing I never use because it's a bit childish. Even forgot to use it whilst lapping Snetterton last November where Skoda presumably intended it to be used. Even 245 owners might be a bit jealous if they had a go in my beast let alone 230 owners.:envy:

Literally just a gimmick then.

Thank you both....i shall waste no more time on this

The only time I use it is if I'm showing someone the things the infotainment can do. If I'm actually driving quickly I'm paying more attention to the road than the screen anyway, it's not really in your peripheral enough to be useful. I think it only calculates an assumed boost pressure from the airflow too, I don't think they have an actual boost pressure sensor.

If you just want a lap timer, you can add that in the Maxidot with just OBDEleven or VCDS at home :)

And if you fit the reverse camera you can watch how much smoke you shoot out of the back of your diesel whilst lapping (slowly).:giggle:

All about the driver haha

Wasn't aware your AMG Merc was tractor powered? I hope the Ford Puma wasn't catching you. What circuit is that?

It’s not, I wanted illustrate how close I was to that apex as it is a bit of a barge round the bends haha. Yep the Puma was catching me under braking as it was a very light track prepped car but I soon blew them away down the straight. This is Anglesey circuit :)

Sorry must look a real plonker not seeing the date and circuit bottom right on the photo. Can nearly hear you laughing here in the Midlands, amazingly no snow for us (yet).

The other thing is the boost gauge doesn't compensate for ambient air pressure so unless you're at sea level it's inaccurate. I found the boost gauge on the JB4 tuning box to be far more accurate, and when connected to your phone it's easier to mount in your line of sight. Just my 2 cents.

The only thing that I would miss going to a 230 instead of the 245 is the diff, it really is excellent.

No idea, it's deffo doable on OBDEleven though. Doesn't seem to work on the virtual cockpit.
