Number plates or license plates replacing

Featured Replies

This might appear simple but I have to replace the number plates on my Skoda Octavia ambiente 2009 5 door. Are they attached with adhesive strips? Is it just a case of prising them off?

Welcome.

Indeed it is.

Maybe boil the kettle, make a cuppa,  fill it again and pour the boiling water behind the number plate, see if that makes it come off easily.

If you can't see any visible screws/bolts then it's a pretty good bet they've been attached using adhesive pads.

I had great fun getting mine off!!!  If you can heat up the plate at all that will help loosen up the adhesive.  If you can get some fishing wire behind the plate you can use that to help cut through the pads too.

I used a sturdy metal scrapper with duct tape around the edges to help me get some leverage behind the plate near to the sticky pads.

Good luck!!! :)
