Swing Radio all face buttons stopped working?

Featured Replies

Just got a used 2011 Skoda Octavia 90tsi.

Drove home radio controls all worked could change volume and use all buttons.

When I got home I paired my phone and everything worked still.

Went out a few hours later and no buttons on radio work at all except power.

Steering wheel controls don't work either. I can manage to get into audio from MFD then I can change radio station but still not volume.

I unpaired phone in case that was the problem but no change.

I removed side fuse and fuse under bonnet related to radio. No change radio doesn't even reset from what I can tell.

Will disconnecting battery reset radio or will it screw stuff up?

Help!

Pulling the battery cable shouldn't need anything like the radio code re-entering.  I have the Bolero in my 2012. I recently detatched the battery twice and it came back with no drama.

Not sure if it applies to the Octavia but I always do this after a friend got caught out on a different car. Always leave a door/window open and make sure the keys are in your pocket when you disconnect and reconnect the battery, just in case the car decides to lock the doors when the power comes back on. Never seen it happen on an Octy but I'd rather not take the chance.

Yeah disconnecting battery did the job. It all works properly again.

No idea what caused it though.

Cheers.

Well that lasted all of one day. All same problems backs. Buttons unresponsive again then randomly work at intermittent times.

Now it also starts scanning by itself now as well!

It also switches on its own between radio info and the sound menu!

Any ideas?

I'm thinking I'll just get it ripped out and replace with a nice Android unit.
