Final rattle/vibration located - Door Card removal

Featured Replies

Final rattle/vibration located - but replicating it when I go to see the dealership is proving difficult.

Over the past few weeks I've managed to find a situation where I hear this noise, it requires a combination of slightly rough road, along with music being played which has a bit of bass to it.

Without the music playing, the rough road can trigger it. Just the music playing in a stationary vehicle doesn't seem to - it's all very odd.

Anyway, in the situation where I'm driving on a slightly rough road and there is some bassy music playing, there is a vibration all around the passenger side door which sounds really quite horrible.

If I've got my wife in the car and she leans on the armrest, the noise stops. I'm under no illusion that there is still vibration going on, however my wife is acting as a dampener and I can hear nothing - it's bliss, oh how nice a quiet cabin sounds.

To people who have removed the front door card on a Mk3 Octy, how scary is the job? I may well try the dealership again, see if I can just get them to hear it, but to say this car behaves itself when being watched is an understatement - it's been on three times with this issue and on each occasion "no fault heard" and I cannot replicate it. It's quite literally driving me mad.

Was going to go in, take a look for something obviously lose or even just place some foam inside the door card to see if I can dampen the vibration - but the two videos I've watched have shown a job far more complicated than I imagined.

Cheers.
