Just out of interest, what's the best mileage from one tank of fuel that you have travelled in a DSG?

 

I understand that the DSG box isn't quite as good as a manual for economy.

 

The best I have seen on my Maxidot is 640 miles so far and that mainly going on 60mph roads, travelling around 60 miles round trip each day for 4 days.

 

Would you say the predicted mileage on the Maxidot is too optimistic compared to what you'd actually get from the trip computer (brim to brim)?

 

I have a 400 mile round trip coming up at the weekend and understand that peak torque for my car is at 1'900RPM. My 1.9TDI DSG does between 2000/2500 at 70mph - would this mean if I reduced my speed slightly to travel at around 1'900RPM, I'd get better fuel economy for a longer - all motorway - journey (Dorset to Essex)?

My best tank has been 947 miles but that was in my Passat CR TDi 150 giving 65mpg 

Best in my 2.0 PD TDi Scout was 739 miles giving 61mpg (Slightly smaller tank than the Passat)

Should point out the Passat is DSG, the Scout is manual.
