Hi guys,

 

Car: Skoda Fabia Hatchback 2007, 1.6 16v with Tiptronic auto box, 41k miles recently serviced.

 

I've been researching a strange noise my car has been making when I found this thread;

 

This sounds pretty similar to an issue I've been having when accelerating. I get a low frequency, vibrating type noise that sounds like it's coming centre of the dash. It lasts a couple seconds usually. Typically happens when approaching a junction at maybe 15-20, seeing it's clear and accelerating away. Not so much when accelerating from stationary, and never seems to happen in gears 5 or 6, so it seems to be in that 15-30mph mark all the time. Can't confirm that it's always 4th but it's something I'm testing.

 

Given that the above thread didn't reach a definite conclusion I'm wondering if you have any ideas or advice? It's definitely possible I'm equating this noise to the gearbox and it's actually not but I'm a bit worried.

Such a low mileage in 11 or 12 years.

What servicing has just been done, anything more than just Oil & Filter & Air Filter.

 

Best that a mechanic familiar with the car does the diagnostics. 

Check pipes, hoses, heat shields, exhaust brackets,

Checks engine and gearbox mounts etc. 

The Tiptronic box never really had any Service Guidelines or schedule for oil changes back in 2007 or even by 2015.

Maybe get advice on that from a VW Trained Technician or a Autobox Specialist when you know everything else is all good with the engine compartment and the engine.

Yes I bought the car from previous owner in October 2018, it had only been with him and had full Skoda service history so it's not been abused.

 

Spark Plugs and I think pollen filter were also done. I've changed all tyres myself.

 

I'm aware it's got an issue with a front suspension bush that's causing some squeaking and minor rattling over rough roads which I'm getting sorted next week. Seems unlikely it's anything to do with that though. Also has the common fault that heater only works on setting 4! Needs new resistor.

 

But it's really this noise I'm a bit worried about. Thanks for you advice!

 

 

Overall it goes through gears well and engine sounds good I'm just baffled why it's doing this in gears 3 and 4, like it's not enjoying acceleration away in 4th having slowed

Is there no Invoice and receipt so that you know that Spark Plugs and a Pollen filter were charged for?

Yes there is, will check when I get home, certain spark plugs were all done.
