Mfsw glitchy thumbwheel

Featured Replies

Hi, i ran our 1.2tsi fl yeti back to the supplying dealer this morning after the r/h thumbwheel decided to only work when it felt like it.

the dealer mentioned he’d seen the issue before & had fixed it by removing the control & cleaning the mechanism with contact cleaner.

it worked perfectly well on the drive home so we shall see, great drive across the New Forest in glorious weather made it less of a chore and as I’ve grown used to driving it, the economy has been creeping up, average was up to 49mpg when i arrived home B)

I had exactly the same problem that started soon after I bought the car new. Annoyingly when it went in for a service it behaved itself.

It got worse and sometimes when going into the menu e.g. for changing the time in spring and autumn it would stop me accessing the menu and if I did gain access it would then play up and I had to give up, very frustrating.

Fortunately on my next visit to the dealer it played up and they videoed it and got the OK to replace under warranty. Funnily enough when it went in for the work it was OK but they had the evidence. Switch was replaced and it has worked perfectly since.

I had exactly the same problem. I asked the dealership to look at it when it was last serviced, but they could replicate the fault so it didn't get fixed. I traded it in this week; they have the car and it's their problem now :)

Hi, the dealers fix seems to have worked as I’ve been out in the yeti today & it’s not glitched once.

Previously it would have been problematic several times on one journey, definitely worth trying this before spending hundreds on replacing switches
