There seems to be a lot more GLX and ambiente's around for sale, what are the difference between the GLX and SLX, ambiente and elegance.

I'm right to think that the lower specs only had 90BHP TDI engines, if so how much does it cost to have the engine remaped to produce 110BHP or even more:)

glx and slx are mk1 octavia and the ambiente and elegance are mk2 for starters

Different front end (Mk1 has squarer headlights and a different grille), revised rear lights. Not sure what else... is different to the Mk1.5 though.

you mean Mk1 and Mk1.5?

Off the top of my head (and assuming you mean 1.9 TDi):

SLX: Climate GLX: Aircon

SLX: 110BHP GLX: 90BHP

SLX: Alloys GLX: Steel

Other things the SLX has that the GLX doesn't include: side airbags, centre arm rest, tinted windscreen band, six speakers, rear reading lights.

That's about all I can remember.

Thanks for all the responses, I presume the centre arm rest, rear reading lights speakers could be add to a GLX/ ambiente model, if so what would be the likley cost and how easy would it be to do this?

With regards to difference in BHP is this just a result of a different ECU i.e would it be possible to have the car returned and if so what is the max BHP before work on brakes and supsenion would be required ?
