I did a search and cant find an answer so any of you guys tow a caravan with a 1.6TDI Greenline ?

If so is it ok as I don't feel the car has any spare power left.

How big / heavy is the caravan?

 

It's not all about outright performance, torque is what pulls a caravan, and the 1.6 TDI should have enough.

 

The Greenline has lowered suspension though, which may cause you some issues with grounding.

 

Try searching in the MkII Octavia thread, there are more 1.6 TDI owners over there that pull wobble boxes.

Not bought one yet.

The gearing on the superb is different to the Octavia so possible not a fair comparison

Is there anywhere that you could rent a caravan to see what it's like before you buy one?

They would have preferred the car to have 6 gears (they tested a pre-facelift 5-speed Greenline) so if yours is a facelift (MY 14) with 6 speed, then you'll even have that.

I used to tow a 1300kg caravan with an '02 C5 hdi 110 manual, never had an issue regarding not enough power, always nice to have more sure but should be capable enough with similar power?
