particulate filter and glow plug warning

Featured Replies

I have a 2014 skoda rapid 1.6TDI. The particuate filter light came on a few days ago and before i got a chance to bring it for a spin to trigger the regen, the glow plug warning came on.

Car is now in emergency mode, no power to it at all.

Am i now at a stage where i need to visit a specialist or can i still trigger a regen by driving above 4th gear in high rev's for 15+ mins?

Get it diagnosed ASAP

Garage had to do a forced regen. Charging 250 quid for the privilege.

for something like a regen, there should be a button or menu option to force it.

before its asked, our driving habits have changed in the past few months due to a house move, shorter journeys.

Not sure about Ireland but the AA will kick off a regen in these situations.....

Sounds like they have ripped you off, but i guess you will have learnt your lesson now about ignoring warning lights.

Hopefully the issue was 'user error' and you don't have any underlying issues.

You should normally get at least a few days, at most a few weeks of the DPF light before it drops into limp home mode.

As soon as you see the light get out of town and give the car a longer run.
