I'm still in the market for a used Fabia Mk2 - for various reasons I've had to reject the few I've seen to date. I thought I'd finally found 'the one', that was until I looked underneath it (at the front) and saw some oil on the underside - see the attached pic.

I'd be grateful if someone in the know could give an opinion as to what the source of this oil might be and if I'd be best to reject the car because of it (oil aside, it ticked every box...). Thanks

It's a Mk2, manual 1.2 70bhp HTP. could be rear main seal, could be gearbox input shaft seal, could even be the driveshaft flange seals, could be something up top.

 

Need a proper inspection to decide where its coming from. If its not dripping it might be fine for the life of the car. I've owned cars with oil stains all over them before and they never got any worse or made any mess on my drive.

Well in all honesty difficult to say.....

 

"looks" like engine oil......and the fact it goes quite "high" up tells me its possibly come from higher up. Not being familiar with that engine as such, it could be a breather pipe split / leaking above....

 

That fact its a manual, takes away the worry of an autobox leaking......worse case is seal between gearbox and engine....but that could be like that for years.

Car looks tidy to be honest.
