Windscreen washer Q

Featured Replies

On my Kodiaq when Inpress to wash rea4cscreen ... water comes out straight away so water on glass before wiper moves.

On front windscreen ... operate washer, there is a 3-4/sec delay before any water comes out ... allowing wipers to do a full wipe of dry screen ... smearing everything.

Is this same on all Kodiaqs ?

on a previous car it started doing this and found a small one way valve in the pipe .. which is there to stop pipes draining had stuck open.

Which meant when you operated system ... took 3-4 sec while water got from pump to jets ...

Took car into dealer response is ‘checked system no flags in memory’ working as intended.

This is a significant annoyance ... so keen to know if this is in all Kodiaqs.

Just been out and tried mine. When the wiper stalk is pulled towards you, the first thing to happen is the headlight washer jets work, followed by the windscreen washer jets, which is immediately followed by the wipers.

I’m sure this was mentioned before on here, and the consensus was that instead of just flicking to the washer position to actually pull the stalk fully towards you and the washers operate and wet the screen before the wipers start to operate.

I'll try that next time

Many of us are disappointed with the front washers.

Our Octavia washers perform so much better than the Skodiaq.

As we’re in winter season when my light switch lives in the ON position, I try to remember turn off the headlights for the first Skoosh simply to save water :)

Yes, it was mentioned over in the Karoq section.

In the end it was discovered that they weren't pulling and holding the wiper stalk, they were giving it a quick pull and then releasing it. Apparently this was how the washers were operated on a previous car, a quick pull and release resulted in the washers operating for a predetermined length of time.

Not on the Kodiaq though, you need to pull and hold the stalk for as long as you want the washers to operate.

There is a delay between pulling the stalk, the pump operating and the washer fluid making its way along the pipe, through the fan jets and onto the windscreen, but as mentioned above, my Kodiaq has a default delay in the operation of the wipers, ensuring they don't operate until the washer fluid has arrived on the glass.

The pressure of the jets is quite weak though, certainly less powerful than our 2016 Skoda Octavia Scout and my current Skoda Superb. Perhaps the washer fluid has a longer way to travel?

Our local dealer installed on some Kodiaqs return valve for jets...
