Electric window fault

Featured Replies

Afternoon all,

I'm looking for some help/advice on an issue I have with my 61 plate mk2 fabia

The window controls on the drivers door seem to have stopped working. When i press the buttons for either window (driver or passenger), nothing happens at all, no motor noise, nothing. Yet when I use the passenger door controls the passenger window functions normally. The function on the key to raise/lower the windows has also stopped working.

Any help/advice on what to try is very much appreciated. I have tried replacing the fuses to no avail

Thanks,

Graeme

Broken wires in the drivers door loom.

If you push down on the top of the rubber boot connecting the drivers door to door and pull it back top first you may well find broken wires in the door loom. A "blunt" tool can assist in pulling it away.

If you do (which I highly suspect you will) then you "can" repair, but its tight and fiddly, best option in my opinion is a new door loom.

Amazing thank you.  This is the issue. In terms of sourcing one and fitting how easy is it? Is it a home job or garage job?

By a new genuine loom from skoda..........cost approx £75-95 ish depending on loom spec..

To replace, erm prolly about 2 hours tops from start to finish not rushing, depends on skill and how much you remove to do it. Can be done at home no probs.

If you can use basic tools and a drill (to remove pop rivets) holding doorspeaker (this gives much better access), then you will be fine. Obviously you would need a pop riveter and pop rivets to refit.
