Fixed interval servicing costs

Featured Replies

I couldn't find much information here on what to expect from the first 3 years of fixed interval servicing (and skoda website themselves are more geared towards what happens after year 3). I bet there's loads out there if I looked hard enough!.

So, for information, this is what I was quoted today from my local dealer:

1. Oil Change £150

2. Oil and Inspection £187

3. Oil and 'supplementary' and Inspection £255

4. 'Major service' £280

So the 4th service brings it in line with the fixed regime of major then minor  etc.

The lady today said that the MOT is usually combined with the third service, which I suggested would only be if people are doing 9-10K a year. I'm doing 12-13K, so more likely to be with the 4th service.

I am planning to keep this car long term so in my head worth keeping it looked after during the first years. I get the first 2 services free (finance deal sweetener), so in essence 4 services for a touch over £500 (assuming nothing else can possibly go wrong).

Try using the online service booking service.

It gives you fixed price servicing.

Skoda: Book A Service.

See what it quotes you.

Some of those prices look like poor value for money given skoda quote lower figures on their web site

£99 oil change against £150?

For comparison I pay £110 for interim service and £230 for a major at my local VW specialist with oem parts.

As ever read the small print - the £99 fixed price oil change is only for cars over 3yrs. (as is the fixed price list ).

I agree with the questioner, VW group pricing is all over the place + VW servicing is all over the place - it's a nighmare.

My advice would be phone around for the best price that suits your service regime. If the car is under warranty there are advantages to having the service done at a franchised dealership as opposed to 3rd party but phone other garages too - it's quite common for main dealerships to match local prices (as long as the 3rd party service using same parts etc).

It's also worth trying a SEAT or VW dealer for a quote. They can be cheaper than Skoda for some things, more expensive for others - there's no hard fast rule to the pricing structure. ( Don't phone Audi tho - they only do more expensive :giggle: )
