Mechatronic Kit - New Gearbox?

Featured Replies

I have a late 2018 Kodiaq Style model 2.0TDI DSG 7speed.....6months old. Noticed just before Christmas there was a loud clicking noise from gear box when switching in low gear.  Mechatronic kit replaced couple of weeks ago......issue reoccurred again. Spoke to the garage....looking like a new gearbox :(

When at the garage discussing next options, another Kodiaq (same model) was also brought in for the exact same issue....and also needs a new gearbox.

Is this a known issue with the Skoda Kodiaq automatics? Should I be looking to hand back the car to the garage and ask for money back?

Be interesting to see if any other Kodiaq owners have the same problems.

My one is 18 months old, done about 14,000 miles and the gearbox has been completely faultless. If you've had the car six months I'd have thought it unlikely that you could easily hand it back.

The DSG gearbox and the Mechatronic unit that controls it is extremely complicated and complex in its operation. It stands to reason that there'll be the occasional 'bad batch' or premature failure.

If you did hand the car back, what would you replace it with? Another Kodiaq?

Assuming the car meets your needs then give the dealer a fair chance to fix it, it'll be the easiest option for all involved.

Look on the bright side, you're getting another new gearbox, so that's the last 6 months of wear for free.
