Auto wing mirror closing problem

Featured Replies

Odd problem has arisen with the auto closing of the wing mirrors, normally I press and hold the lock button and after approx 2/3 sec the wing mirrors fold. Now that doesn't happen, I have to unlock the doors again and then re-lock the mirrors now fold in as they should, any suggestions?

Could be the first sign of the door loom failing with an intermittent contact of a broken wire?

How about a short press to lock then a long press to fold mirrors.
Has anything been change on the Maxidot as to which doors lock and unlock?
Have you tried with the other fob?

I doubt if its a door loom failure on a car so new with the updated rubber boot.

Could it have also lost the one shot closure on one of the windows?

It doesn't work like that.  If you release the lock button too quickly, you can't get the mirrors to fold by pressing it again.  You have to unlock the car, and press-and-hold the lock button again (for the correct period of time - I usually hold it down for about 4 paces as I walk away from the car).

I don't think so - not if it the mirrors do retract at a second time of asking from the remote.  The one-shot closure issue stops them retracting on the remote button altogether.

I was trying to see if that works as he said that it would only fold if unlocked and locked again which seems to me that the door lock sequence has been changed on the Maxidot.

Since posting this morning the "fault" seems to have cleared. I have even tried closing the door quite hard in case of a loose wire, but it hasn't caused a repeat of the issue. I'll keep you posted if it happens again.
