Yeti dsg early failure

Featured Replies

Hi. Update re petrol dsg yeti 1.2 petrol. (On mobile can't find past thread.)

7 y old under 35k. Has been at Skoda dealer 3 1/2 weeks with only mechatronic diagnosed faulty and lots of time for parts etcetera. Exasperated as car was "stripped down" and waiting for them to reassemble all this time and apparently "not able to inspect clutch as its a sealed unit" but diagnostics not showed it faulty (though did at AA and independent gearbox specialist). Have tried several times to talk to master tech . Instead the service manager has just now said (as I'd asked the question) yes be better to put in a new clutch and fly wheel even though not clearly faulty, just in case. Price then £4250  instead of £2000 for mech alone (includes fitting etc).

So.. would you advise after replacing a faulty mech, to replace clutch etc as a precaution.???

No goodwill as car "too old "

Thanks

Is it worth fixing at that cost, seeing as I saw an advert for a 10 year old yeti the other day for under £2k?

It should have a significant scrap value still, and someone will buy it to repair it with a second hand gearbox from a write off at half this cost.

The value was 5.5 k - 7 k (part ex -private). Now the car’s in I have to pay the minimum of the mech

The clutch packs are not in a sealed a sealed unit.
Both clutch packs can be removed and replaced.
