Help with headlamp levelling failure

Featured Replies

Hi,

My Skoda Octavia failed its MOT because of

  • Nearside Headlamp levelling device inoperative (4.1.5 (a))
  • Offside Headlamp levelling device inoperative (4.1.5 (a)

I dont think the switch has even worked for the 3 years I have owned it,  but was picked up on current MOT.

Any advice on how to go about diagnosing the issue or fixing it? The guy at the garage said it could be a motor issue, however, as both failed I was leaning more to electrics.

I have ordered a new switch for dash off of ebay part number 1U0 941 333 D to see if that solves the issue

Thanks

@flashmanandy - The leveling motors (or more exactly their connections to the reflectors) failing is a common issue.

Ok,

I found this video on removing and replacing the motors, hoping its correct :D. Is it possible to recondition them or would you recommend just replacing them?

Trying to find the correct motor part on ebay is also seems tricky. If anyone knows which ones to order?

If I replace the motors and the switch, how do I check the wiring in between?

Thanks

The video shows it at 3:27 - Part no.  is 1J0 941 295 A

It's a simple job to fit.
