So I recently bought a 60plate Octavia VRS and whilst I’ve been polishing the car I’ve noticed a small rust bubble on the passenger wing and another on the tailgate, has anyone else had this problem before? And would it be worth going to my dealer to see if they do anything under the bodywork/corrosion guarantee.

On a 9 year old car!

Still got 3 years left on the anti corrosion warranty, why not? 

 

If the rust on the tailgate is near the crease or around the VRN lights, that is a known problem area. I had mine resprayed under warranty due to rust around there, but it needs doing again as the rust has returned.

Rust on the wing is common on VW Golf's Audi's and Octavia's as they have a thick foam pad up inside the wing and when these get wet they stay wet for a long time starting rust problems behind the wing.

If your gonna have it repaired take the wing off and get rid of the foam or you'll be going round in circles.

I think it has something to do with noise reduction as it doesn't sit on anything.

I've got a very small spot on the right hand side of the roof where it meets the windscreen! Do you think it's worth taking into my local Skoda to have a look?

The only way to find out is to take it in. 

 

The first dealership I took my vehicle into said it wasn't covered under the warranty. The second said it was a known issue and was covered.

It is right under the crease on the tailgate

I’ve got abit of rust in my spare wheel well and a fair amount on the sill on the driver’s side just after the wheel arch :(
