VCDS Adaptations, Which ones are still valid for MY19?

Featured Replies

As the thread title says.

But I would be really appreciative of the brains department who use it on a frequent basis help me out, because I'm really not sure about doing any of them as many are over 5 years old, pictures which go with them are missing and I find them very helpful and reassuring as a step by step guide.

Especially with a gizmo laden vehicle like mine, some of the adaptations don't really apply as I don't have things like Maxidot.

I'd like to have sign recognition, the dual rear fog lights and some others, but I'm concerned that the existing adaptations should I use them may cause either damage or malfunctions that can't be easily rectified.

Many Thanks

TSR and dual rear fogs is the same as MY18.

TSR - Module 5F - Adaptations

Car_Function_list_gen2

                                   Traffic_sign_recognition_0x21  SET TO: Active

Car_Function_Adaptations_Gen2-menu

                                   menu_display_road_sign_identification SET TO: Active

Module A5 - Long Coding

Byte 16, Bit 4 (check box)

Module 17 - Long Coding

Byte 5, Bit 2 (check box)

I don’t have dual rear fogs handy, but here’s HBA in case you want that

Procedure:

Ensure light switch is off

Conduct a soft reset when accepting each change

Reset Light menu to factory settings after coding to display new menu option

Controller 09 - Central Electrics
Security Access - 16: 31347

Adaptations  - 10

- Search for Fernlicht to narrow down the options

- Menusteuerung Fernlichtassistent Werkeinstellung: Set to PRESENT

- Menusteuerung Fernlichtassistent: Set to PRESENT

- Erwiterte Fernlichtsteuerung: Set to AFS: FLA: FERNLICHT UEBER AFS
Menu option for "Light Assist" should be available in the Lights section of the Car settings menu (may require a factory reset of Light menu).

If you want HBA to remain active, with light switch in Auto, then code the following
- Fernlichtassistent Reset: Set to NOT ACTIVE

Controller A5 - Front Sensor
Coding (using experimental coding values)

-Byte 19, Bit 0-3 (00 FLA_Additional_High_Beam,no_Additional_High_Beam

-Byte 19, Bit 4-7 (20 FLA_Headinglight_Type,LED)

-Byte 21, Bit 5-7 (20 AFS_coding_Light_Assist,High_Beam_Assist)

Controller 4B - Multifunction Module
Coding (using experimental coding values)

-Byte 11, Bit 6 (High Beam Assistance,Enabled) NOTE: I couldnt get this to work on the long coding, instead I changed the text on the first screen of the coding section, done the trick!)

You may get an error pop up regarding Headlight Range Control. To clear this, go to Controller 4B, Basic Settings.
-Basic Headlamp setting -> Go
-Acknowledge basic setting -> Go

A cool one for the VC is to code 10 mph increments and my speedo also runs to 180 instead of 160.

Can’t remember the coding for this, it’s in 17 Instruments under adaptations, but I can’t remember where I found it!!

I've found most of them to still be valid although one or two are different if you have LED lights. Personally I tried most of them and if they didn't work entirely as expected I reverted them back to the original values which is easy to do if you take a backup of each module BEFORE making any changes so that you know what the original values were. I have made many changes to mine and am getting more confident in my ability to 'experiment' knowing most things can be easily undone in the event that it doesn't go right.

You say you don't have maxidot so I assume you have VC?

Yes I have the virtual cockpit. Which as you know I'm not a fan of.

I'm looking at changing the following two of which I've previously mentioned, speed sign recognition (I think you call it TSR), dual rear fogs, refuel quantity, to start with initially.

Then do the throttle response a bit later.

I don't need HBA, that's already done, as are the front fog lights.

Thank you Ms Grace for your contribution.
