Octy 2 minor faults

Featured Replies

I have posted in 'ask a tech' with no resonse so I'll try here!

I took my car in to Slaters Abergele the other week for some minor repairs,

1. new dashboard storage compartment (chrome effect strip was flaking)

2. new sunglasses holder (cricking everytime I opened it)

and

3. rear windows clunking about 3-4 inches from its lowest level. I had said it was the left rear but really both where the same.

Anyway, I picked it up and the windows weren't done as they say its normal as they checked with others, although the estate does not have this trait. Has anyone else noticed it, cos I find it annoying even though you only hear it occasionally!

Apart from that, well done Slaters, - Graham, more freebies, they checked my tyre pressures, put on the diagnostics, topped up engine oil and give us a new litre as I had used up my last free one:) This all for free. Oh and a octy 2 estate to go to work in.

I'll check on the clunking tomorrow.

That must be a feature as mine has also been replaced, pity they have to replace the whole unit including air vents just for the chrome strip on the lid.

Not had the problem with the Sunglasses holder as my Oakleys won't fit in, that's what I use the dashboard one for. Also not had the problems with the rear windows.

Cheers,

My car had a creaky steering wheel, creaky drivers window, creaky sunglasses holder and the boot release from remote wouldnt work properly.

Couldnt be arsed taking it back but the last 3 have corrected themselves now and I think there's a fix on the way for the steering wheel creak so maybe i'll give the dealer a shout sometime.

My steering wheels creaks. I'll get it sorted then. Thought it was just one of those things.

And my wheels catch on full lock. :(

Hi, any problems during replacing the vents (for that damn chrome imitation)? I mean there is no levers involved for replacing that can damage the dashboard or the replaced vent won't creak or smth right?

VW identified a fault on the mkV GTI streering colum, (reported in auto express a few weeks ago) so guess this could be similar (they have also suffered with the same flywheel problems on 140TDI's).

My wheels catch also, but only on full left lock, sounds like the wheel arch liner. My dealer has raised this with Skoda, to see if there is a mod due. Will let you know if I get an answer.

Also spotted an 06 reg Black vRS hatch with a diesel engine! Number plate doesn't say a dealer, just "Skoda Auto UK" seen near Leeds. Could this be a a pre release car, or has some one spent a fortune modding a TDI? Interior was correct vRS, correct alloys & bumpers & badges. Any thoughts? Also my mate has ordered his Golf 170TDI & that is due late June!! So guess the eingine is on its way soon!

My Octy also had the flaky silver strip on the dashboard, back windows don't clunck on mine, but despite two visits, still have a wind noise when driving over 50mph which is another known fault with the Octy II. Also have the dodgy cruise control turning itself off whenever you use the indicator stalk (another known fault) and a loose battery and a radio that just dies every now and again for no reason.

Remote key fob faulty too (doesn;t open doors or boot, depite a battery change/reprogramme. Fobs been on back order for two months now so either a very popular problem or ust unlucky timing on my behalf.

Still a great car, but has too many little glitches for my liking. I guess that's the price for having so much technology and electronics in one place.

So guess the eingine is on its way soon!

Rumour has it that there be one touching down in Dublin in about 8-9 weeks.

What is the size of Your wheels?

I think the 170 TDI is already out in the Passat.

Yup and it should be available in the Golf and Jetta too. Also I think the 1.4 Supercharged-Turbocharged 170bhp petrol engine is due for launch in the golf too. Should be interesting
