Coolant warning

This light comes on periodically, I'm guessing it's telling me the coolant level is low (I don't have an owners manual). However after a 130 mile drive yesterday the coolant level is fine and showing no loss of coolant. Could this be an air lock as coolant was changed prior to my collecting the car a couple days ago, or a faulty sensor perhaps? Any help appreciated as I'm new to the Skoda scene. And yes I've bought a manual, it's just not arrived yet.

Welcome.

Someone with the knowledge will be along,

but is that not the light that should come on when the car starts and coolant is not up to temp then goes out.  When there is no Temperature Gauge?

So faulty.

It's true it does come on upon start up, then goes out after a few minutes. Probably I'm being a bit paranoid having only had the car a couple of days, thank you for your positive response.

Yep, it’s true. My old greenline had this as it didn’t have a coolant temperature gauge... so basically when the blue light goes out it’s safe to put your foot down a little.

Certainly makes sense without the water gauge, just not something I've experienced before so thanks for that.

No problem

..Absolutely normal. Blue when cold, off when normal temperature is reached and then, heaven forbid, red if car overheats.

Make sure the car is nice and warm prior to giving it a spirited drive, so as to look after the turbo.

You only need to worry if it 'bings' up with a Red icon!

Thankfully my Greenline has a gauge and Maxi-Dot, when the red icon showed 6 months ago, the maxi-dot gave me a warning message "Coolant Low" as my water pump had gone pop!

I would prefer to have a proper gauge, first car I've had without one and not something I would have thought about when I bought it. But hey ho, I'm quite happy with it !
