First 2k impressions of my 1.5TSI

Featured Replies

First, As no data sticker was available, I managed to get a full printout from the dealer. There are a few interesting points:

0KA - No decals

1W2 - Glove Compartment Cooling system

2B1 - Additional Exterior Noise Suppression

3W6 - Additional Interior Noise Suppression

5TD - Decorative Aluminum Inserts

6FF - Components with special surface appearance

6K2 - Forward collision warning incl. autonomous emergency braking, without adaptive cruise control

6PA - Plastic handbrake lever

6Q4 - Comfort gearshift knob/handle

7L6 - Start-stop system with regenerative braking

GM1 - Standard electronic engine sound

QJ9 - Chrome Package

There are a few interesting points/questions:

So I have the chrome package but the only chrome on the car is the grill frame

I would like to know what is the additional noise suppression

what are aluminum inserts?

what is regenerative braking good for on this car?

what is standard electronic engine sound???

Aluminium inserts, I think, are the trims on the door card where the internal door handle is.

Regenerative braking basically maximises the alternator charging the battery when the car is braking or on overrun. It gives more engine braking. It also reduces the load on the alternator when accelerating to save fuel/increase power. It’s effect is minimal.

I guess GM1 standard electronic sound is a sound generator, they must fit them to more than vRS models now.

I stand to be corrected on any of the above, but that’s my take on your questions.

I have attached mileage statistics from a recent trip.  I wasn't trying very hard :)  What is the suggested speed/range one could use for direct comparison?

One thing that annoys me is when cruising the ACT rarely activates.  On the same stretch it seems to activate more on some days and less on others.  I wish I new what condition it wanted.

My long term average according to the Bolero Stats is 31.8 MPG

Thanks for the input.

Personally I don't like the aluminum and would like to remove or cover it.

I find it interesting that its worth fitting regenerative braking to the Octavia.  Sounds cool.

I also assumed GM1 was a sound generator.  I did not know and can not understand why anyone would put one on.  I know I have a 1.5 and don't need to pretend otherwise.  I will investigate, and would turn it off or remove it if possible.

Also what I find a PITA is the black mirror finish around the display.  It just shows every spot of dust and fingerprint.  I find it looks a bit out of place being the only black shiny thing in the cab.
