Why does my Diesel flap not open sometimes?

Featured Replies

Hi there

Just wondering if anyone else has had the issue ive got with my 2014 VRS,

Sometimes when i go to fill the car up with diesel i cant open the flap, the way that i have to open it is push the flap lock the car then push the flap a couple of times then unlock the car and hey presto the flap springs open

is there a way of solving this problem?

your advise would be much appreciated on this matter as it is starting to do my nut in

I had this on my mk2. Got some silicone grease and wiped the area clean before applying it. Cycle the mechanism a few times and wipe the excess off. This solved it for 4 to 5 years before I got rid of it. Probably still going now

Common problem.

Mine does it and seen other people post about it.

Replaced the locking mech on mine due to the same issue, got one on ebay relatively cheap, search fuel flap servo motor  7p0810773d

Changed mine 2 weeks ago. Got new motor from dealer (24,4€) and the code was 7P0810773F

Press open then close on key fob, until hopefully the flap opens. Just keep pressing open/close, it should flip open  eventually.

Unsrew T20 I think and carefully take off rubber part. There's videos on YouTube, disconnect wire from the part mentioned, put back together and it will open and close anytime. Do people still steal fuel ?

Yes this is what I’ve been doing mate I find if I push the flap a couple of times then press open it springs open

The release plunger might just be sticking. It happens on my Superb.

With the flap open, spay some lubricant on the plunger, then work it down into the mechanism by repeatedly pressing and releasing the plunger with your finger.

Disconnecting the plug wire will allow you to press open anytime, clean flap out and it's done.
