LED number plate lights - advice needed

Featured Replies

Morning all

I've decided to replace all the interior lights with LED bulbs. Some of you will remember that I replaced the light in my boot with the ready-to-go LED boot light assembly from Superskoda, which was a huge improvement.

I've ordered a set of bulbs from a seller on eBay that will replace the incandescent bulbs in the two roof-mounted passenger light clusters, as well as in the glovebox.

The one area that I'm still not sure how to proceed on is the number plate lights. Various people are selling complete replacement assemblies with LEDs, others are offering LED bulbs that will fit in the existing number plate light housings.

Has anyone here switched their number plate lights to LED, and what option did you go for please? Are you getting any CANBUS or any other errors?

Cheers

Chris

I switched both my previous 2017 Toledo and 2014 Spaceback to LED's and found the number plate bulbs we're not monitored by the bulb warning system:thumbup:

Cool - and did you just replace the bulbs in the number plate light holders, or did you replace the whole light assembly?

I just went for W5W  LED bulbs. I'd seen the Superskoda option, but had found their interior LED light (bought for my Yeti) to be both poor quality, and ill-fitting.

I also replaced the fog light bulbs with an led equivalent (? H8) on the Toledo and enabled the cornering function (with Carista).

These didn't put on the bulb-out warning and were fantastically bright. They did however bring on the bulb-out warning on both my Spaceback and Yeti (despite being 'canbus friendly'). I wasn't keen on resistors so uninstalled:dry:
