MyTyres - warning

Featured Replies

Some of you may have used MyTyre as I have done previously and had good service and prices. Unfortunately they’ve been bought out by Delticom in Germany. Even though they are still advertising as being based in Oxford and promising 48hr delivery they are sending the tyres from Germany using a Micky Mouse courier called GLS Parcel. I’m now on day 4 (not inc weekends) of my 48hr delivery and through the tracking I see they’ve sent the tyres as 4 separate consignments, all despatched together from the same warehouse but now in 3 separate locations with two of tyres in the south of France!

I have tried to contact MyTyres and the courier without success but have received an automated email saying my tyres are expected between 11-13 March. Luckily I have paid using PayPal so unless all four tyres arrive together I will refuse them and get a refund.

When I bought my winter wheels/ tyres from Mytyres in 2012 they were Delticom then, and they were shipped  from Germany. Took about 7-10 days for them to arrive if I remember correctly.

Same here for my Passat in 2011.

Must have been longer than I thought since using them last

I just bought some Falken 310's from Demon Tweeks shop on ebay.................'A' wet grip......'C' economy........67db.

(There was another seller at same price but they only had a P.O Box address............AVOID).

No problems. Arrived promptly and were a good price. £82 pair.

So long as you buy from a reputable shop / store then ebay is great IMO.

I looked at Pink(something) and 123Tyres, but seems these places are not too fussed once they have your money.

I’ve always used oponeo, they usually send out within 24 hours and use DPD as a courier so there’s tracking too. Not forgetting the free delivery!

Never had problems previously with MyTyres but it’s fast becoming a farce. Be had to get PayPal involved which finally resulted in a response. As it is I now have 3 of the 4 tyres dispatched. The fourth one they’re treating as lost and sending me a replacement although I’ve had no confirmation of this been done or a tracking reference that they said they would provide.

I used Tyre Leader for the BMW tyres last time and they were delivered within 3 days. Unfortunately they didn’t stock the tyres I needed this time and MyTyres seemed to be a good price but the stress and chasing up isn’t worth the money I saved.

Last time I bought tyres Blackcircles despatched all 4 tyres and received on time for £296 delivered. Pirelli P Zero (rated Y at 186mph) 225/40R18.

Quick update on this farce. 3 tyres were delivered last week, on chasing the 4th they said it was lost and sending a replacement out urgently. A fourth tyre turned up on Tuesday. Hoorah! No a 5th tyre has just been delivered much to the amusement of ParcelForce guy. I'm now waiting on a response as to what they're going to do with this 5th tyre.

It now qualifies as "unsolicited goods" I think, so any recovery should be at their expense.

Too right, although I may make a cheeky offer

A non cheeky offer is that your hourly rate is £35 if they want you to stay in for them to have a courier collect the tyre.

When i had an extra pair of tyres delivered to me Mytyres told me to keep them if i wanted.

Funny thing was the first pair were replacements after a bulge in one tyre.  The original pair were delivered to the 'Fitters',

the next 2 pairs to my home.

Perhaps you should sell it on here and deny all knowledge if they realise about you getting an extra one. Your prize/compensation for all the aggro.

They are not unsolicited goods, its a delivery error.

In law the extra tyre is not yours to keep (yet). You should inform Mytyres of the situation which obviously is the fault of the courier. Its up to Mytyres to pay for collection if that's what they want, but good chance they'll let you keep it. Fingers crossed.

I’ve made a cheeky offer which is with their complaints department. If they don’t accept it they will collect it on Monday.

@shyVRS245 not sure if anyone would have use for 265/70/17 all terrain on here.

Didn't realise it was such on unusual tyre size. Bit wide for your bike?:notme:

I've been buying from MyTyres for at least 15 years now and they've always been Delticom to my knowledge.  In 15 years I've bought a variety of brands and sizes, and as far as I'm aware they've always come from Germany too. Delivery typically takes 3-4 working days, but they have been very good at delivering to anywhere I've asked them to, rather than only delivering to my billing address.  Whole sets of tyres have been delivered to friends and neighbours homes, and even direct to garages when my cars have been in for service.  Got to say they've been brilliant on every occasion I've dealt with them, and on one occasion (when I mistakenly ordered an incorrect size) they took them back free of charge and despatched the correct set to me immediately.  Couldn't ask for better service really.

They also seem to be consistent with their very competitive prices.  I've do a bit of online shopping around before placing an order and they seem to always be the cheapest by a few quid for the size I'm after.  They seem to always have a 5% off offer early spring to encourage buyers for new summer tyres, so I also tend to stock up then if I know I'll be needing new tyres any time soon.  Unfortunately this year's offer was the other week, but if you register with them you may get notified of any other similar offers by email.  The money I save on this sort of thing more than covers the cost of getting them fitted at my local independent garage.

You really couldn't make this up. I made my cheeky offer last Thursday and it was passed to their complaints department who could authorise the discount or decline it. I didn't have any response from them and the tyre was collected on Monday as they arranged. I have just now received an email stating they will accept my offer and send me an invoice for the additional tyre at the price I offered. Incompetent doesn't begin to describe them.

Pay the invoice and make them deliver it again!

Your acceptance of their offer and payment of the consideration validates the contract.

I had thought about it but dealing with them has been stressful enough and no doubt they'd lose the tyre again.
