Xenon MK2 FL headlights

Featured Replies

I've just fitted a second hand headlight and when the headlights do the dance (afs) and the headlights settle down can I manual adjust the height, I have been told it needs to be done with vcds is this correct?

Supposedly need VCDS or similar to put the lights in learn mode for adjustment but if the adjustment is small you might get away with it.

I'd certainly recommend using VCDS (or similar) and a headlight aim tool if the headlights have been replaced. It'll give you chance to make sure everything is working normally and that the home position etc are correctly set.

As long as you don't massively adjust the aim and hit the end of the adjustment, you should be OK.

I'm getting very mixed answers just phoned Skoda they said yes aswell £35 for them to do it.

Nothing to lose really if you adjust them manually, the car doesnt know the "home setting" of the replacement unit anyway.

I would adjust using a wall or garage door as a target, make a written note of how many turns (and direction) you adjusted so you can always revert to original position if needed.

If it all goes to **** (which I doubt) then you go and give your dealer £35.

£35 is cheap for a main dealer.

Xenon's are a real pain at night when poorly adjusted.

Get it done properly would be my advice.
