Oil heat

Featured Replies

Today on my way back from work the oil heating thing bobbed on.

It said oil 78 degrees or something

my heater guage ( I assume water / coolant) was rock steady in the middle

about 2 minutes after it’d bobbed up it was gone again

no warning lights on dashboard nothing

should i be worried

When fully warmed up my oil temperature sits at 90-95. Generally at 90. The oil temperature is a selectable option on the infotainment system. If you haven't set this up I would guess that a minor blip in the system caused to be displayed.

@Mee

Are you just rolling the wheel on the steering wheel and selecting different tings, hence Oil temp, and winter tyres, and anything else that you can get?

No, the centre display was on current mpg

To be honest it does sound like you're either accidentally touching the steering wheel controls or you have a fault with them.

Oil temperature is just one of the standard information displays that you can scroll through within 'driving data', along with things like distance travelled, average speed, mpg, etc.

Wouldn’t surprise me if it’s yet another fault, this car is turning into a money pit :@

Where exactly did this appear? Between the rev counter and the speedo? If so, that will only have happened if you scrolled on the right hand wheel but you would see it scrolling.

Where did you buy the car from? Has anyone shown you how the various menus and systems work? Without wishing to come across as rude, a lot of the 'problems' (but not all) you've posted on here seem to be more related to a lack of understanding of how to use the infotainment / maxidot menus and other features of the car.

It was between gauges, so you’re probably right

i bought from an independent sales garage, turns out that the warranty isn’t worth the paper it’s written on (re cambelt).

i was never shown how to work any of the toys, just handed the keys for a test drive and that’s it! :o

@Mee

Now i understand a bit better having read your various posts / threads.

I thought your questions were about a new car.

This gives a good clue to why you are having issues.

A good Technician, Mechanic or Auto Electrician might well be able to sort things out.

That’s my own thread...?

I know. I looked at your posts because you never say what your car is when asking things about it.

Software glitch, Water in doors etc. Oil temp, etc.

Handy if you do say what the car is, mileage etc.

I’ve stated on a few threads, apologies for not stating on this one...

the car is a SE L, 65 plate, 77k miles, fmsh

just recently had a cambelt / water pump change

If you add that information to your profile, then no further information is needed when you post.

It really does sound like you are scrolling through the menu options. I accidentally ticked the winter tyres option as well. No need for that  in my case, my winter tyres have the same speed rating as the standard oem tyres. I don't have steering wheel controls in my basic SE model.

I’ll definitely do that now, many thanks :thumbup:

The Winter Tyre speed warning can be handy i find. Not to do with Speed or Load ratings because none really that you fit in the UK will be likely to be an issue.

Not setting it for me other than i might set it above my other speed warning to remind me i have enough points.

If someone else drives your car and it is set wherever, say at 100 mph, and it then alerts they might just reduce speed.

It is amazing how many will jump in a car unaware of what tyres are fitted, & what pressures they are at.
