Fabia 2 rear door pockets

Featured Replies

Hello all ,

If you have a Fabia S like I do you'll notice it's missing a few bits and pieces. Daft little things mostly-  because some expensive stuff is standard. Leccy windows, a sophisticated central locking system, variable intermittent wipe etc.

Whilst I had the rear door trims off to fit rear speakers I got to thinking about door pockets. The S doesn't have rear pockets and on higher spec cars they are not the moulded in affairs that the front ones are - definitely separate mouldings. Skoda only sell complete door trims and then , as well as costing a lot, the upholstery would match the S trim I have at the moment.

Solution is to buy cheap tatty scrap door trims from a higher model and take the pockets off.The pocket has extensions that go through holes in the trim and are melted over at the back to fix. Squeeze them in with pliers and the pocket will pull off.

This leaves the scrap trim looking like below

Make a paper template to match the holes and transfer it to your own door trim.

Drill the door trim out according to the template and offer up the door pocket . You may have to do a bit of extra drilling out and fiddling to get it to match up. Then return to the rear and fix with self tappers through the holes. I found 1/2'' No.14 worked fine.

Finished result.

Quite a lot of work for a couple of little pockets maybe . Does finish the door off and gives a bit of storage.

I have them but like your enthusiasm and dedication to minor improvements.

You might like underseat storage boxes, (Used to be under a tenner each but I think they slowly went up with popularity) If you only have the blanking plates and a roof mounted sunglass holder is very popular mod, at low cost. Get the correct colour and genuine cost around £20, ali express or eBay, around half that! Not used, most second hand sellers away more then new as they either rover value them or think you don't know the cost!

You can also obtain other little bits and bobs that look nice, with little cost.

Little damper bobbins (4) , that make the roof handles return slow, so as not to slap shut... (4) Little plastic caps that go over the door hinges and (4)door latch covers, to improve the aesthetics...

I sourced a small amount of these items, to sell on as a kit, but never got round to doing it. (12 pieces).

I will get round to doing that in the very near future.

Hi, any update on the kit?

I just need to organise, bag up, price them, etc. Ill try doing it this Feb. (Thats if you meant the bits n bobs I referred to)!
