To Sell Or To Strip

Featured Replies

Think i might be looking to get a new car come summer time but I'm undecided what to do with my skoda

Being a vrs estate im thinking strip it as i will get alot more money for the parts then if i was to sell it.

My problem is the cars on over 200k and is now a cat n with a dented front wing and a few suspension bits have started making noise. Taking these into consideration it would reduce the cars value a fair bit.

How much do you think i could make from stripping the car

Judging by the fact that you're in the UK, you could probably make a decent amount. Mostly the VRS specific bits would be of interest to other Skoda enthusiasts. What sort of VRS Estate was it? The demand for VRS bits is always reasonable.

It's not exactly a spring chicken at that mileage so I doubt bits will be in best condition/high demand.

I'm all for recycling but unless you're prepared to strip it yourself and store parts or have a slowly diminishing SORN shell laying around for months I'd just sell it.

Depending on how you were to advertise the parts you're looking at courier complications etc.

sorry didn't realise i had any responses

in the end i decided to try and keep it for another year, However disaster struck and the water pump went along with the abs pump within a week of each other. So im going to start stripping it next week

I figured the same as i stripped a ibiza 1.9tdi sport about 8 years ago after crashing it and ended up making 3k on a car which cost me 2k pre accident

I can believe it, good luck to you!

I scrapped my old Vectra SRI and GSI and made far more in bits some years ago.  I also got £100 a piece for the shells.
