Warm engine starting problems

Featured Replies

Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me on this issue. I have a 2009 fabia 1.4Tdi, it starts perfectly when I've left it for a long time, but if I go out then stop for a few hours then when go to start it again it turns over and spluters a bit but doesn't start. I did get it to start today but it stalled itself, then eventually started but I kept the revs up a bit. A new battery has been installed recently but made no difference. Just wondering if anyone knows what it might be.

This is to do with the settings in the ECU requiring certain parameters to pump fuel in. It's the same on the 1.9. if the starter is a bit worn so unable to turn the engine over a set speed (280 rpm I think) and the engine is warm then it won't pump the required fuel in to get it started. I tried lots of things but the only one that finally worked was a remap totally by accident. Didn't know it would fix it but it must have different figures in the starting tables or something.
