Day Time Head Lights

Featured Replies

Hello Everyone,

Can you help on this matter, my car (which I love)

A warning sign- has a orange light on the dash, it’s a head light in brackets.

in the book shows me the lights manfunctions

so it is the right day time lights which don’t work so needs a new bulb, taken to a garage and they can’t replace as it needs to be the dealer ? Is that correct ?

would it be wise to say replace all the lights ? As if one goes most do ??

Any help appreciated

Alethea

I hate to recommend them but if you cannot do it yourself, then Halfords should be able to change it for you.

Doubt you need to change any but the one that has gone

Only if it's very easy.

Yeah, they won't do the headlights on my sis's Jazz, where the instructions start "put the car on full lock and remove the wheel arch liner..."

Looking at my mk1 it looks like it could be a bumper off job.

There seems to be some confusion here.
If the read-out says "headlights" then it will be one of those; if it is one of the "day light running lights" then it will say that. They are not the same light.

Can you confirm exactly what model and year of car you have? Is it pre-facelift, with the fog and DRL's directly under the headlights, or is a a post-facelift model with fog lights low in the front vallance and DRL's directly under the headlights? If the later does it have LED or standard DRL's?
If it is the latter with LED DRL's then they cannot be replaced separately, as they are part of the headlight and the whole unit needs to be replaced.

On the pre-facelift model all the headlight, sidelight, fog light and DRL bulbs can be replaced without taking the bumper off. There are removable covers on the back of the light units and although tight on space they are possible. I've done several.
They only "problem" ones are the indicator as they need a kit to replace a cut-out in the back of the unit, which is accessed through the wheel arch.

DRL They are not that easy to replace, you are better off going to the dealer .
