Judder and lack of power

Featured Replies

Hello I hope someone can help?

My car is a 2010 1.8 tsi 7spd DSG

When accelerating hard (ish say over 75% throttle) the car hesitates and then begins to accelerate before immediately juddering and losing power, the engine check light and the EPC light comes on. I turn the ignition off and on while still moving and the car goes back to normal.... until i start accelerating again?

Has anyone else had an issue like this?

Me too

First of all: have you put a scanner to it? That will reveal the secret. Could be something as simple as a misfire higher up in the rev range, then the car throwing up a CEL due to the misfire.

No my existing odb reader doesnt work. I've a new one coming.

Had new plugs. Great mechanic. Thought it was fixed. Came on sitting while I played with heating and turned off climate control. Idle speed dropped. Noticed light on. Coincide?

So the garage said there is a misfire on number 2 cylinder, performed a compression check all good. Garage found that cylinder 2 had the coil pack replaced in the past.

They swapped spark plug and coil pack between cylinder 2 and 3 to see if the fault jumps to cylinder 3 and asked me to try it for a few days. If so its coil/plug if not the thought is the injector on cylinder 2.

I ran the car for another day still misfiring, so i filled with vpower and a bottle of injector cleaner. Hasnt misfired since. So i guess its the injector.
