Parts : Octi MK2 = Golf MK5 ?

Featured Replies

Howdy.

Just how much does the Octi mk2 (2005) share in common with the Golf mk5? I'm looking for new rear sub frame parts and not finding a great deal whilst searching with 'Skoda' as a key word. But if I search with 'Golf mk5' (Which I'm lead to believe the mk2 Octi shares a lot with) I get a lot more results. Before I commit to anything, I don't really want to be left red faced with things I can't use because there was something different with a VW part -vs- the Skoda part. I know they're the same company and share parts, but I just want to be 100% sure before making a mistake and wasting time and money.

Any advice/insight is greatly appreciated

I’m sure the skoda is the same just it’s a larger boot so suspension parts etc should be the same , best tj8ng todo would be to find the part number of the part you need and google is see if it’s listed for the mk5 golf too

Then look at Original Catalogue and it will take you to "pick a manufacturer"

How do I give a post a million thumbs up?

No worries

Parts for both VW & Skoda are expensive in AUS so I usually buy from overseas and choose either Mk5 or Mk6 Golf parts or sometimes Audi.

On a 1.8tsi M6 hatch, everything has fitted including:

Mk6 Golf r intercooler

Golf catch can / Afrika plate

Audi S3 lower control arms

Golf Mk6 koni dampers

Octavia diesel wagon spring kit

GFB DV+

Golf MkV GTI front brakes

Golf MKV GTI rear sway bar

5 sets of Audi/Golf wheels

Passat  soft close grab handle dampers

Golf Mk6 intercooler entry / exit pipes

Other stuff that my foggy head can't remember.

You are pretty safe with most non-visible parts.

The octavia has a longer floor pan= longer wheel base so exhaust system and fuel and brake lines are different, apart from that the suspension system is the same design but may use different springs rates as it is a slightly heavier car.

Ooh, that sounds pretty tasty Brad! Can you elaborate on them please and how easy are they to fit? Are they external or interior?

 or Aliexpress.

Similar difficulty to the parking bulbs in front headlights?  Long nose pliers and patience required.  I did mine in 2010, so cant really remember if i cussed a lot.

DIY with photos

EDIT: Just looked at DIY.  Mine just slotted in.  I didn't do any cutting or faffing about.  The hardest bit was getting the tension on them IIRC
