Another keyfob issue...

Featured Replies

Anyone want to see a grown man cry? I think I have searched for every possible solution but forgive me if I've missed the answer I'm looking for.

My leggy 05 Octy 4x4 estate, aka the dog car, has got me bewildered. You see, the key fob won't open the car. I only have one key for it, bought like that.

So, battery changed, little light comes on everytime a 'button' is pressed but no joy. Have done every "key in the door, lock, wait, press button, unlock with key, turn on" key re-synch I can find. Car starts and runs as excellently as ever but to open any of the other doors, you have to tug twice on the door handle before they'll open. Tailgate refuses to budge unless I limbo into the boot space

and open manually via the little flap and with a screwdriver. I'm too old and tall for this malarky to happen on a regular basis, and I need that tailgate to open so I can get my ancient senile labrador in...

Have checked fuse (number 15) in the end of dash panel.j

Before I through a big tantrum and go see 'we buy any car', does anyone have any further advice? I have read/heard talk about a "control panel" but need further advice on what that may mean.

I know she's almost 20 and has travelled a fair distance but I am rather attached to the old thing, and having had the FSI engine converted to lpg, gives me cheap enough driving to make me

want to try and sort the problem...

Really appreciate any help!

Do you not have a door / boot switch in the centre console???

I think also if you turn the key in the door twice it should also unlock all.

As for remote operation, no ideas as yet.

The mystery continues. Yes, have the switch in centre console but seems to make no difference. Yesterday, despite trying the key in the door twice unlock

procedure, it suddenly worked! All doors open. Took dogs out for walkies, back to the car and it was as before. Now the fob isn't lighting up. Will take it

down to the mechanic next week as it is making life as annoying as Brexit. Suddenly a second hand Suzuki s-cross 4wd is looking attractive...
