Problem with service

Featured Replies

Just had my second variable service. Went in a few thousand miles earlier due to a few problems I have been having. When I picked it back up I was miffed that they were palming me off about common faults I have seen on here. Glove box catch not working properly and keeps opening and electric boot opening itself. They did nothing about them and said service was fine. Anyhow a few hours after arriving back home I looked at the paperwork and to my horror under the advisories was a faulty air con sensor and also mentions I needed a dsg service at 40k miles.  Bit strange since my mileage is nearly 36k now and none of these things were mentioned to me on the handover. I was livid as so I complained to a manager about the sensor. They are going to get this fixed. I have just paid £279 for the service, what's this dsg service it says I need on the paperwork?

DSG service is an oil and filter change for the DSG gearbox. Standard interval of 40,000 miles. I wouldn’t skip it.

Usually about £200 extra at a dealer.:o

Thanks for the replies. Was hoping to swap over cars soon but with brexit thought it best to wait. Now I'm forking out loads of money :-(

:dull: It must be a millennial thing that cars cost nothing to run, apart from some fuel. Never giving much thought about servicing, maintenance, repairs, insurance, tax, tyres and .....what's that other little thing?.....I think its called DEPRECIATION.

A new car is going to cost...lots....more than £179!

My Superb has 36,000 miles on the clock too. Warranty just expired. I intend to replace DSG oil and filter myself at 40k. It’s a bit of a fiddly job (compared to an engine oil/filter change) but not that bad. Hopefully!

Just a bit more than fiddly, which is why so many 'mechanics / fitters / DIYers mess up'

you need the gear and an idea.

IMO £179 and a guarantee from a Main Dealer is worth every penny for piece of mind.
