Strange issue with engine??? Octavia VRS TDI CR 2008

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm new the group and am looking to get an opinion on what could be causing the intermittent fault that I am experiencing. Following any long drive (>20miles) if I immediately try to restart the car it turns over but won't actually start. If left for a few minutes it's fine. The local dealer ran a diagnostics and identified the starter switch as faulty. Had it replaced, still the same problem 2 weeks later. Had the battery checked- all ok. I'm now out of ideas! I wouldn't usually care but I'm planning on doing a long drive to Spain with the family and am slightly worried about going wrong on the way! Any adivice will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Luke. I had a similar problem last year on 2009 Octavia Scout. Took it to my local garage and they replaced the crankshaft sensor. It's been fine for last twelve months. May not be the same for you but it cured mine.

Many thanks Gavin, much appreciated. I'll get the garage to check this out

No problem. I know little to nothing about engines. Google and Briskoda are my friends.Hope it gets sorted.
