Dipped Bulbs - Which to fit ?

Featured Replies

Just arrived home from work tonight and before i left my car park i did notice how dark it was in front of me at the gates....... both dipped beam bulbs have gone, one did go last night and i was going to have them sorted this weekend now the other one went a day later ! So without going mad and re-wiring my car what are a decent aftermarket fit for my car ? Oh its a 2010 1.6TDI Elegance if that changes anything.

You can spend up to £27 for a pair of OSRAM Nightbreaker Next Gen H7 but having tried Night breakers before I found that Neolux H7 bulbs for £3 a pair perfectly adequate and only marginally worse.

Please understand all H7 55w bulbs are the same brightness (by law they are limited to 1500 lm iirc). Upgrade bulbs use a shorter filament positioned in a slightly different way and run hotter, so appear whiter and optically push the "hot spot" further down the road, an optical tweak. The downside is they have much shorter life than a standard bulb

Neolux is owned by Osram and is their value brand. The £1.44 version is equivalent to their standard bulb as fitted OE to your car. Same specs. lumens, bulb life etc

b3/tc or how long does a halogen lamp last

Been running OSRAM Nightbreaker lasers for over a year if not two years now and they are great.

I've using these just 12 months and recommend them

I'm running Philips Xtreme Vision 150% bulbs. I agree with xman, they are shorter life, but getting through the winter in one piece was my main priority.

The Fabia projector headlights are not great, base model is better.

I found the beam from Osram Nightbreakers better than the standard bulbs but they are shorter life.
