Alloy wheels rim protectors

Featured Replies

Hello, can anyone suggest a suitable alloy wheel rim protector for my karoq edition 2ltr dsg alloy wheels. Thanks in advance for any advice. You may realise I have scuffed my rims.Aaagh!!!

Regards  Keith

Can't help with the protectors but what tyres have you got on ‘em?

I’ve got some crappy Bridgestone rubber but they do have a profile that includes a sidewall bulge that goes some way to protecting my alloys against kerbs.

Alloygators. Came with different colours

Just buy tyres with rim protection. It is usually marked as "FR". I've bought Dunlop Sport Maxx RT2 FR and seems OK.

^^^^.

Alloygator / Rimblades £30 and help some. Fit yourself.

'Just buy tyres'

£500-£600 if you happen to wanting to buy / change tyres, but if you have tyres, maybe just spend £30.

I sold some rimblades a few weeks ago . I realised if you do ever touch a kerb at all they tent to destroy them selves and getting them off with the adhesive would be a nightmare . They won’t protect against anything more than very very light touches . The alloygators seem stronger but need proper fitting

Potential for them trapping water and accelerating any diamond cut white worm.

Best thing is not to drive into kerbs ;)

Annnnd I just did that today rushing to the hospital could of cried but they touch up pretty well and no doubt if rimblades was on I’d be sat there ripping of the rest of the rim blade along with even more paint

I have just bought a Kodiaq sportline DSG in velvet red, I love the colour.

My last car had Alloygators fitted professionally, £140, a good investment.

I had red Alloygators fitted professionally at home, £150, very happy with its fitting. I was told not to have my wheels sprayed at the car cleaners, the acid burns into the wheel finishings and attacks the coloured Alloygators.

I’ve had 3 different sets fitted to my T5 over the last 5 years since having the wheels powder coated. My advice is don’t! The ruined the powdercoat under the alloygator. If you have polished lips then maybe, otherwise I’d stay clear. I kept changing them to keep them looking as new as they do get torn up if you kerb the wheels. They do however supply a key ring with a dressed edge so you can ‘skin’ them to shave off any minor damage.
