AUTO Headlight Switch

Featured Replies

Hi everyone
I used to have a Skoda Octavia 2006 were i did change the light switch from regular to Auto switch. Worked perfect on that car. Now i bought a Skoda Octavia III 2015 in Spain were a mechanic tried to do the same on this model, but he got error CODES in the display at once. I would believe when it is possible to change on a 2006 model it should be able to do the same on a 2015 model.
I understand the light sensor is connected to same as the windscreen sensor. Does anyone have any idea how we can make this work on my new car?

I wouldn’t assume that the ‘15 system allows the same changes as the ‘06 system did.

Guess it depends how much you feel like paying your mechanic to play to try to make it work! The car’s software would need instructing with a code change to tell it that it now has a different switch unit. Your post makes it sound like you have the windscreen rain sensor, whether that unit also contains the light sensor is anybody’s guess as the car originally didn’t come with auto lights. +1

The '06 model was a completely different platform design to the '15 model, so the electronics have very little (maybe nothing) in common.

I believe the auto windscreen and auto light (not auto main beam) sensors do usually come together, so I'm surprised that the OP has one without the other.

There was an offer on when I got my car for free auto lights and wipers. It was also advertised as including an auto dipping mirror, and I got some "goodwill" back when that was missing from the car.
