Egr Simulator Experiences

Featured Replies

Hello again. Last year my 2013 octavia ll fl 1.6 tdi left me stranded due to a worn out egr (the valve was clean but the teeth were completely worn).

I fitted a replacement and after some fiddling I got it running again. I got about 20k kilometers out of it and it failed again (the car has 250.000km). The car runs in limp mode with code P046c. I can hear the EGR has lost its gears again.

I want to delete it for good now but I can't find anyone that can map it out here in Chile so I thought of trying this instead:

Its an EGR simulator. Have anyone here tried it? I haven't been able to find any opinions about it.

Seems like a good idea if it works, but at that price you might as well get it coded out if you can!

I love the idea to get it coded out but I haven't been able to find a garage that will do it.

I think I will just replace the EGR once more. Last time I used a chinese one because it was cheap and easy to ship to Chile but this time I'm looking at a Borg Warner supplied by Darkside Developments or a Whaler I found on ebay.

Any recomendations on a particular brand? The original I took out was a Whaler and it lasted 230.000km (it used to do mostly motorway driving and now its mostly city driving).

So after some research I went for a remap. I found a company that represents Sedox here in Chile. I went for a stage 1 with EGR and DPF off (supposedly 142hp and 300-ish nm).

It cost me the same as an original EGR shipped here (around 320gbp). I just picked up the car and feels lighter already on the motorway. I can't say it feels like a huge difference off the line though. Maybe because of the dsg7 (dq200) limiting the torque??

I will gut the dpf this weekend as it will not regen it anymore.

BTW the guys at Kenner Motorsport (sedox in chile) told me that the EGR simulators don't work very well and because the EGR is disconnected, the DPF tends to get clogged much easier.
