fabia vrs mpg & speed

Featured Replies

evening all, i have a skoda fabia vrs and regulary get 550 - 600 miles out of the tank, that with brimming the tank with the "little fuel expansion tank button" located in the fuel filler neck. the best i have ever mustered is 625 out of the tank and i thought that was good, 645 must of been eaking it out and driving like a grandad. i range speeds but my trip is the same most day's i travel comfortably on a A road at about 60-70 mph and sometimes boy racers do try and take my furby rs on but i leave them for dust! yes diesel does perform well! and yes the skoda fabia vrs is a good contender to beat MOST boy racers in there xr2i's and other crappy ford dustbins such as ka/fiesta. whats the hightest speed n e one has ever got out of their furby vrs? i would like to know

You will find that there's not many on this forum that like to condone speeding. Your post is somewhat 'very boy/girl racerish' and comments like speeding and 'how fast' won't attract many positive comments.

However, in answer to your questions -

1) I have had 700 miles from a full tank (average 70 mph on cruise) on the Motorway.

2) as far as top speed is concerned, I'm not bothered. My profession prosecutes idiots who think the public highway is thier private race track. If you want to, there are lots of guys on the forum who, when time permits, attend race meetings under strict conditions. NO pedestrians. NO animals. NO street racing.

Don't get me wrong though. I have from time to time, put my foot down where conditions permit and believe me when I say, the Fabia VRS is by no means the fastest little hatch out there.

Do some searches on the forum. There is plenty to read on racing & boy racers.

Welcome to Briskoda. :D

Welcome to Briskoda, not really ever measured but ususally get about 52-55mpg on a good run. Dad drove once and got 60mpg! Refusing to put his foot down because he said "Theres no need!"

I am a bit of a wuss when it comes to top speed but i once out my foot down out of curiosity and got 110mph, it was a one off though.

I couldn't agree more.

I have averaged around 47/48mpg, thats a mix of spirited a/b road, town and motorway driving, and works out around 480 miles to a tank (not using the expansion).

As for top speed... As standard, about 125-130 as indicated on the speedo. Remapped 140-145 as indicated on the speedo.

sorry to dredge here, but this expansion tank you speak of, what exactly does it do, and no prizes for the first answer of "it expands"

is it the wee thing that if you push it, it hisses?

If you open the fuel filler cap, look inside the filler neck. There is a little black **** on the right hand side (3 o'clock). If you push this forwards with the fuel pump as you are filling up, it will allow you to fill up the "expansion" tank with an extra 5 litres or so.

The expansion is designed to hold the increased volume of fuel when there is a high abient temperature, so don't go filling the expansion on a cold evening, and then park in the baking sun the next day without driving anywhere, its guaranteed to leave you a nice puddle of diesel.

I've had 145 on the clock of my vRS, but it is remapped, and realistically thats probably around 138bhp, the engine and gearbox just run out of puff at high speeds, but that really isn't what the vRS is all about in my opinion.

Seeing as a Kak has just a 1.3 litre engine, I hope you can beat it!

i think's it's a bit bad that no one can talk about speed of a warmish/ hot hatch without getting slaughtered. maybe the forum should be called "slowskoda"?

and as for positive comments who cares? it's a website!

i'd say that the speed of 128 mph quoted on skoda specifiactions is about right.

and yes i too hate boy racers in thier crappy cars. i just leave them to it but sometimes gotta just give them a run for their money. after about 40mph ish and you are well ahead i don't go any further it's enough to make em know who has the faster car...cos thats what they generally try to prove. knocks em down a peg or too.

and just by saying this does not make anyone a boy racer.actions are what makes them boy/girl racers and not words.

aslong as it's done safely you can do speeds of upto 70mph ;)

waiting for the H&S officer brigade to pounce in thier remapped and lowered fabia's (hypocrits)

p.s. laying MO on the table aggrovates people...I dont care the truth hurts....being a road angel gets you no where. being safe however does.

i got 80 mpg the other day driving like an old man on a 12 mile journey, about half at 60 mph cruise on the bypass and 30 on the normal road.

when i travel from Llangollen to wigan (60ish mile journey) i get about 63 mpg at 65 mph on cruise

when i fill the normal tank i get about 400/410 miles out of it.

i cannot find that thing for adding more fuel everyone is talking about!!
