Oil Temperature Warning

Featured Replies

Hi all, im new here and have an  2014 Octavia 1.6 SE TDI CR and love it. Today whilst out on a little jaunt the Oil Temperature warning appeared on the dashboard Maxidot, the temp was 90. Has anyone come across this before, excuse my ignorance but this is the first car that ive had like this, my last one was an  '06 ford focus est, i know, ive seen sense and got the Octavia now lol. Ive only had the car since 30th March and its already been back to the main dealer for a problem with the clutch and their customer service/service department are unprofessional and rude and the thought of having to go back there again when i only got the car back on17th April.

Pretty sure you accidentally hit the right hand scroll wheel on the steering wheel. That display is just the actual oil temp, and 90 is normal. You can select what information is displayed on the maxidot, using the infotainment screen.

Hi, it came up warning __________ then said oil temperature 91, then 92 and then went down to 90. I was a bit surprised as the garage reckon they had spent £1300 on it before I bought it, not sure on what....

Sounds like you've scrolled onto the speed warning screen, which will show 'Warning ____" until you set a speed, then scrolled to the oil temperature screen, then to the next screen.

The wheel/controls on the right hand side of the steering wheel will scroll through the different options, whilst pressing the menu button will give more options.

The main options are things like Driving data, Audio, Nav, Phone, Assists. Then some of those have more, so when Driving Data is selected, scrolling through can show speed, average speed, economy, average economy, speed warning, oil temperature, distance driven, range remaining... These can all be turned on and off on the main infotainment screen. Clicking the wheel on some will then also cycle between since start, since refuel and long term figures.

This is all explained in depth in the manual (which you can download for free if the original isn't with the car)

Oil temperature at 90 is not a problem and it wouldn't flash a warning because of it. I doubt it would do so until 115+, maybe even more.
