Drivers door issue lock problem

Featured Replies

Hi there,

the drivers door stopped locking and unlocking from the key fob.

manual locking and unlocking is ok all other doors ok

strange turn of events - could have been that i pressed the lock button on the fob at the same time as my partner opened the door manually with the handle.

any suggestions of what to try to get the lock functioning on the fob again.

could it have been that or is it likely just a coincidence, any thoughts on diagnosing the problem?

Just realised - its a 2010 1.2 manual petrol

Its also possible that my partner and i activated our 2 keyfobs at the same time

ok, much testing and i found a weird work around... if i pull the inner manual opening lever and then close the door... it locks from the fob, but it only works one time then reverts to fob not working

Or it could be that the wiring between the body and the door has broken.
There are plenty of threads about this on here.

If I lightly or partially pull any door handle while pressing the fob unlock button then that door will not unlock and I would need to press it again. After this it will just operate as normal.

My superb has started doing this intermittently, daughter pulled the passenger door handle at the same time as I unlocked with the fob. It’s fine for a while but then refuses to open, the inner handle opens it but not every time. I hope someone has a solution.

Im going to try and see if i can reset the ecu by removing the negative on the battery for some time, maybe that could fix it?

But unfortunately i think its more than that as i noticed yesterday that the mirrors switch also stopped working, matbe its the door loom and coincidental timing

Almost certainly the wiring if not replaced already by the revised version with more cable between door and pillar in a deep loop to stop the wires breaking inside.

I will check the loom, see if i can do any temporary fixes to the wires and probably need to order the new loom from a main dealer. Im guessing theres some pointers somewhere of removing the door sill - has anyone come across any info or has anyone got experience of doing the drivers side loom? Is there a different part number for the newer loom or are they all with the longer wires now?

Have a search on here and in the Technical Guides, I'm sure there will be an article on how to do it

It’s not realistic to fix the breaks as they will be in the loop between door and pillar and there is no spare space in the waterproof duct
