Breaking pad and disc wear

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

After 45000km my rear breaking pads and discs on my 17 Superb look like the pictures provided.

I’m no expert, quite the novice really, but this can’t be right after this amount of km? Are both discs and pads in need of replacement? They work fine and there’s no signs of bad breaks like noise or vibrations in the steering wheel.

Starting to think previous owner change front pads and discs once already since they look really good in comparison.

bit of life left in those yet, post pics in another 10K

Welcome to the low quality brake disc club. There are a few threads about the poor life of the discs and pads.

This is just one of them.

Unfortunately Skoda rear discs are rubbish. You only have to look and feel the rear discs of brand new Skodas in the showroom, to see the scoring with just a few miles on the clock. I’ve now got Delphi rear discs. Not a premium brand but massively better than the original rubbish!

Thanks guys appreciate it!

Should have mentioned that the front discs last a lot longer than the rear ones. Which is odd!

Electronic parking brake causes that, does't it ?!

It does indeed.

5k miles on my Superb 272 and when braking I already hear rumbling noise from the back. 5k!!! Brakes are disaster in this car. Only thing I dont like about it :)

Mine look exactly the same on the rears. Plenty left on the pads but the discs are scored and the pattern is uneven like in the pic.

Fronts look as good as new.

Car brakes perfectly well, no noise, scrapes or squeals.

I'm due an MOT in a couple of months - is this a potential fail?

No, I don’t think so. Just crappy material!

Mine got bent and when I brake on high way at high speeds car feels like its shaking.... Also on small brake press (really small brake press) u can hear some sort of noise that feels like it happens every turn of the rear right disc. They really suck lol :D

as soon as my pads are in for replacement I'm getting new discs as well. However I don't have bad soaring like most people on this forum have. Only bent issue so far.
