Minor underbody damage to sill tray driver's side

Featured Replies

Hello,

First post here and I'd be grateful if anybody out there can help with a bit of reassurance.

I have Superb Mk3 (67 plate saloon) and today managed to run over some smashed wood which was scattered across the motorway - almost dodged it all but a little piece only about 8 or 10 inches long got flicked sideways by a car just in front of me and then wedged under the driver's side floor (with a pretty horrible noise). I didn't want to stop on the motorway, so I tried the brakes and they still worked and there were no warning lights.

When I got off the motorway and had a quick look, I could see that the wooden shard had punched a hole in the driver's side floor undertray about 6 inches inboard and almost halfway between the front and rear wheels.  As best I can describe this for size, it's a finger sized hole.

I've taken some photos as below (not great ones I know), but what I'm really hoping for is some reassurance that this is just cosmetic and that nothing important runs underneath there (my natural worry is where the brake lines are).

Many thanks if anybody knows.
