Rear view camera and Recording.......

Featured Replies

Pilots saying " The enemy always attack from the rear".......

Sitting in my two month old Citigo at lights, the driver behind got tired of waiting and pulled into an outside lane as the lights changed, clipping my cars back end in the process.

Managed to get his number as he did not stop, and drove over the lights.......

I've managed to pull out and paint the scrape, not too serious fortunately, but considering fitting a rear view camera- recording whilst driving.Any fellow drivers here got one fitted, and any recommendations for an inexpensive DIY fit?? Probably best applied to rear tailgate frame....

I have just purchased a Viofo a129 Duo to put in my Mk111 Fabia. It literally turned up this afternoon so have not yet fitted it.  They are rated quite highly for a so called budget duel cam if you consider £129 to be budget.

I am not sure how much of a neat mounting I will be able to get on the rear hatch as above the window is just plain metal on the Fabia with no trim to hide the cable behind. I don't know if the Citigo is similar or not. The cable for the rear camera is also a little more heavy duty than would perhaps be ideal so might make it harder to get it behind the trim. However it could be benefit in preventing wear to the cable when the hatch is opened and closed due to the lack of trim I mentioned above.

Being a cheap skate,I purchased a cheap camera from auction site £12.Camera is abour 3.5"long.Just clears my window sunshade when in place.

Not sure how long it will last, but fixed in,adhesive plate attached to tailgate frame, managed to armour the cable to allow for bending cable when opening tailgate.

I am not one to pull off trim,so cable was guided under the weatherstrip out of sight. Then routed along parcel shelf carrier  and down side of seat pad -clear of hinge(!)

Finally run cable behind seat belt, under sill weatherstrip and under driving seat to connect to fag lighter.....no cable showing when boot closed, and driving door shut.

All secured with black gaffer tape where need..not the neatest but simples....
